FaRo & Serial N2K time

Post by sanfesailing »

Hi.
I've a boat with FaRo and N2K enters the system as serial device through Actisence usb.
I see that the time parameter is set to 200 (which should correspond to 5 Hz).
Considering that both main compass and gps enters the system through N2K, is it better to set time to 100 (10Hz) ?
Which could be the drawback to use time=100 ? Are there any paramaters to check that the N2K network is fine ?

Hi,
The time parameter affects the frequency of the data sent out from FaRo, typically to the displays.
Usually, 5Hz refresh is fast enough for the human eye.
The data from N2K sensors are received at the frequency they are outputted from the source.
Therefore, changing the Time parameter in the N2K network doesn't affect the frequency at which the data are received.

We hope this answers your question

Hi.
What about the parameter "Send every ... cycles" for the output variables ?
